Synopsis
해 질 무렵, 따스한 빛이 스며드는 작업실에서 바람에 흩날리던 한 장의 종이가 스스로 접혀 새로운 형태를 만들어냈습니다. 저녁노을의 부드러운 색조 입어 탄생한 종이새는 하늘로 날아올라 구름 사이를 지나며 각자의 안식처를 찾아 나섭니다. 열린 창문을 통해 한 집안에 들어온 작은 새는 횟대 위에 안착해, 은은한 빛으로 방안을 채우며 고요한 평온을 전합니다.
At dusk, in a studio softly permeated by warm light, a solitary sheet of paper that had been dancing in the breeze folded itself into a new form. The paper bird, born with the gentle hues of the sunset, took flight, soaring through the clouds in search of its sanctuary. Through an open window, a tiny bird entered a home, settling on a perch and filling the room with a subtle glow that conveyed quiet tranquility.

PROJECT INSIGHT
Throughout production, I focused on preserving the beauty and core message of Perch Light’s original design. Its paper-inspired bird form, warm indirect glow, and gentle swaying motion were the key qualities I sought to emphasize. Together, they maintain the sense of calm and rest at the heart of the design.
To me, the true meaning of the product lies in the “perch.” The warmth of the material and the sculptural bird create a comforting image, while the bird slowly swaying on its perch through the darkness gives the piece its quiet emotional expression. Like a perch that offers birds a place to rest, it becomes a meaningful symbol within the design.
개인적으로 저는 이 제품이 전달하는 진정한 메시지가 바로 ‘횟대’에 있다고 생각합니다. 종이의 따스함과 새의 조형미가 편안한 이미지를 만들어내지만, 결국 Perch Light의 비언어적 발화는 횟대와 결합된 새가 서서히 앞뒤로 흔들리며 어둠을 헤쳐 나가는 모습에서 비롯된다고 봅니다. 마치 횟대가 자연이 아닌 공간에서도 새들에게 안식처를 제공하듯, 이 제품에서도 횟대는 중요한 의미를 품고 있습니다.
영상을 제작하는 동안 Perch Light가 원래 지닌 순수한 아름다움과 핵심 메시지를 온전히 유지하려고 노력했습니다. 종이의 촉감과 특성을 살린 새의 형태, 부드럽고 따스하게 퍼지는 간접광, 그리고 잔잔하게 흔들리는 움직임은 이 작업에서 가장 중요하게 다루고자 한 요소들입니다. 이 모든 요소들이 어우러져 Perch Light가 전달하고자 하는 휴식과 평안의 감각을 완벽하게 보존한다고 믿습니다.
PERCH LIGHT
Perch Light는 종이새 형태의 조명과 황동 횟대로 이루어진 조명입니다. 새의 몸통을 통해 은은히 투과되는 간접광은 휴식과 평안의 감각을 전하며,
천천히 앞뒤로 흔들리며 어둠을 가르는 움직임은 공간 속에서 조명이 사람과 소통하는 새로운 방식을 보여줍니다.
Perch Light가 가진 평온함과 따스함이 이 영상을 보는 이들의 삶 속에도 자연스럽게 스며들기를 바랍니다.
Perch Light is a lighting fixture composed of a paper bird form and a brass perch. The indirect light, softly filtering through the bird’s body, conveys a sense of rest and tranquility, while its slow, rhythmic swaying that cuts through the darkness demonstrates a novel way for lighting to communicate with people in a space.
I hope that the inherent serenity and warmth of Perch Light naturally permeate the lives of those who watch this video.
